PDRA WELCOMES HEINTZ PERFORMANCE AS SERIES SPONSOR

For over 40 years Heintz Performance has been one of the most respected names in the automotive performance world in the Southeast and beyond. The Professional Drag Racers Association is proud to announce that the Statesville, North Carolina-based company has signed an agreement with the PDRA to participate as a performance partner for the upcoming 2015 season.

Heintz Performance has its roots in the mid-1970s when brothers Steve and Mike Heintz pursued their love of competition and all things automotive by building a drag car that they raced at tracks near their North Carolina home.

As racers, Mike and Steve were always well prepared, carrying extra parts to each race. The word soon spread through the pits, and before long fellow competitors were calling on the brothers to see if they had any parts they could use as well. Recognizing a need and an opportunity, Mike and Steve began bringing a supply of parts just to sell at the track. From this, the idea of opening a small parts business in the corner of their garage became a reality, and Heintz Brothers Automotive was off and running.

Steve handled the parts aspects of the company, and Mike focused on engine building and repair, and the business quickly grew. In fact, by the early 1980s, the small corner of their garage devoted to the business was not large enough to handle customer demand, so the brothers built an addition to their facility in order to meet the needs of their racing clientele.

Mike and Steve became well known to racers across the Carolinas and the Southeast, and before long parts manufacturers became acquainted with the Heintz name as well. In fact, many of the top companies in the performance parts industry contacted the Heintz brothers, asking them to carry their products.

While the drag racing community was the company’s major focus in the 1980s, the brothers began to search for other racing avenues to explore as well. One of these was a natural for the North Carolina-based operation, as by the 1990s there were growing numbers of NASCAR teams in and around the Charlotte area. Parts manufacturers specializing in these types of cars asked Steve Heintz to pursue the NASCAR market for them as their distributor. He began to knock on shop doors to introduce himself and his company, and to let race teams know that he represented a company that could deliver the parts they needed. The result was that he built real relationships with the teams, and Steve Heintz became known for his honesty, integrity, dependability and service to customers.

From humble beginnings in the corner of a garage, hard work, dedication and vision led the Heintz brothers to the position they enjoy today as an entity that ships nationwide, deals directly with over 200 manufacturers, and has become one of the most trusted names in the racing business. Both Mike and Steve believe that the relationships they have built with their manufacturers and their customers are of the utmost importance to their success. Now, as in the company’s earliest days, they strive to deliver only their best – both in product and service. Their sales and service staff is the major reason for sustaining growth in the industry.

No customer is too big or too small – everyone is welcome and important to them, and their employees share this belief. The Heintz name is your local speed shop wherever you may be, whether you are a street performance enthusiast or a major motorsports team. They plan to continue to strive to keep the reputation of honesty, quality products, knowledge of these products, and fair pricing for many years to come.
"We started out as drag racers, and we still are in the drag racing business," said Steve Heintz, who, along with his brother Mike, were 2013 inductees to the NC Drag Racing Hall of Fame. "The PDRA is just like our racing days used to be, FUN!"

"Heintz Performance is a family owned and operated business, and the PDRA is a family oriented racing organization, so I feel this is a great fit for everyone concerned,” said Mike Congdon, PDRA Senior VP of Marketing. “We are extremely proud to have the Heintz family and their outstanding business as a performance partner this season. On behalf of the owners, staff and racers of the PDRA, we are pleased to welcome them.”
