Maxima Racing Oils Joins Growing List of PDRA
Partners
PITTSBORO, N.C. March 6, 2015: Maxima Racing
Oils has been a powerhouse in motorsports for
over three decades. The name Maxima Racing Oil
is fairly new to the drag racing scene, however,
and they are partnering with the Professional
Drag Racers Association to build relationships
with racers and engine builders in the industry.
“Maxima has been in business for 35 years,”
relayed Gene Jones, head of East Coast Business
Development for Maxima. “Our roots started in
power sports, but we have been making automotive
products for several years with relationships
through key OEM manufacturers and engine
builders. We’re one of the few manufacturers
that blend, bottle, manufacture and develop our
own product. The Performance Automotive (PA)
side of Maxima was started in April of 2012 when
we started making Maxima Racing Oils available
through distribution and engine builders. I came
to work with Maxima in 2013 to help grow and
expand our automotive markets. What I’ve been
doing for the last year or so is working with a
lot of asphalt and dirt short track markets. We
have some associations with drag racing, but
this year I want to focus more on drag racing
markets. We do have a direct relationship with
Jason [Line] and Greg [Anderson] at KB Racing
and have developed several products with them
that are available through distribution. Our PS0
that was released last year is one of those
products.”
Jones notes that Maxima also has relationships
with other engine builders and racers in the
industry. Still, Maxima desires to continue
growing product awareness within drag racing and
believes PDRA is the best vehicle to do exactly
that.
“The main focus for this year is to get our feet
wet in the PDRA,” Jones explained. “I like the
series. It’s growing with a strong grassroots
base. I questioned people about different series
and heard some good things
about the PDRA, and after attending

an event we chose to pursue building a
relationship with teams and engine
builders through this organization and
grow with the PDRA.
“We don’t want to be involved with
just anybody for the sake of having a
banner at a racetrack and trying to
get our name out there,” Jones
continued. “The PDRA is growing. We’re
growing. We had substantial growth
with our business in 2014 over 2013
mainly by being at the race track to
support racers and engine builders.
Being there to show and educate people
about our products and build
relationships is what we are about.
Maxima Racing Oils has a great product
line up and the cool thing about us is
we have something to offer anyone from
Jr dragsters to the Pro Extreme class,
all developed and made in house here
in the USA.”
This year Maxima is coming on board as
a product sponsor, but plans to post
contingency in 2016. Jones will
personally be at about half of the
races this season, with additional
events possibly covered by another
Maxima representative.
“As far as our products, we’re a
racing-only company,” Jones continued.
“We only make racing oriented
products. We do it very well, and
don’t pursue anything with general
automotive or industrial type
applications. We’ve got everything to
offer from break-in oils, petroleum
based oils, semi-synthetics,
full-synthetics. We make aerosols,
cleaners, waxes. In fact, we have a
product called SC1 that is amazing on
wheeling bars and other areas to keep
the rubber from sticking to them.
“We also do a considerable amount of
shock oil. A lot of PDRA racers are
probably using our shock oil and don’t
even know it. We have relationships
with several major manufacturers and
builders JRI, RE Suspension, Eibach,
Factory Kahne, Fox etc. and several we
can’t name due to proprietary
agreements. I know a lot of PDRA
racers run a Bruno. We make two
different viscosities of transmission
fluid that work very well with Bruno
applications. We started out last year
working with Chris Cline and the
Christine car. They were pretty amazed
with our product results especially
viscosity consistency and trans temps.
It’s a product line from break-in oils
all the way to brake fluid, shop
fluids, cleaners and aerosols, gear
oils. And it’s all blended
specifically for racing applications.”
“We’re thrilled that Maxima has chosen
to partner and grow with us in their
drag racing applications,” expressed
PDRA VP of Marketing Mike Congdon.
“With 35 years in the business, they
are a company that has exhibited
staying power. Companies like Maxima
are exactly what the PDRA and its
racers need.”
“The main thing we want to do is
product awareness,” Jones reiterated.
“Go out and meet the racers, talk with
them, see what they’re needing, and
have a product they can use at
reasonable prices. We have
distributors all up and down the east
coast and out to Texas. We’re working
on possibly having a distributor at
each PDRA event this season.
“We’re looking forward to this
association. We see this as a
relationship, not just being a product
sponsor and somebody to put their name
out there. We want to develop this
relationship beyond this year. I’m not
looking to be here today and gone
tomorrow.”
