Kooks Headers and Exhaust Latest to Join PDRA as Contingency Sponsor

Located in Statesville, North Carolina, Kooks Headers and Exhaust is the latest performance industry entity to sign on as a PDRA supporter for the 2015 season.

The history of the company dates back to 1962 when George Kook (Papa Kook) used his gas torch to build his first set of headers for his family race car. Involved heavily in racing, his talents did not go unnoticed by all the local racers. Papa Kook competed week in and week out at area drag strips. The business of building high-quality race headers and exhaust systems continues until this day. For the past 50 years Kooks has concentrated its efforts in the racing world. From drag to circle track, road racing, motorcycle, and even offshore boats, Kooks Headers has helped set records and win races. From humble beginnings Kooks has now grown to become a full-fledged manufacturing facility that prides itself on high quality and great customer service.

“We are pleased to be supporting the PDRA this season as a contingency sponsor,” said Kooks Director of Sales and Marketing, Chris Clark. “We are offering payouts across the board to any competitor who wins a race while running our product and displaying our stickers. This applies to all professional as well as sportsman classes.

“We were looking for a fast, heads-up drag racing sanctioning body to get involved with, something more on the grassroots level,” Clark said when asked about Kooks and the PDRA teaming up. “We also were looking for an organization that hosted events close to our North Carolina location so that our people had the opportunity to attend some races and be directly involved.”
Location had a lot to do with it, but referrals from racers also played a key role in the company’s decision to become involved with the PDRA.

“We do quite a lot of work for NHRA Pro Mod drivers, and I heard from a number of them that they also raced with the PDRA,” Clark said. “That endorsement had a lot to do with our moving forward as contingency sponsors this season.

“We got involved with the PDRA because we wanted to make sure we were supporting the racing community and the customers that have helped us grow. We are convinced that the PDRA is the perfect venue for Kooks Headers.”

“Support for the PDRA continues to grow, and having a great company like Kooks Headers post contingency for all of the pro and sportsman classes is unbelievable,” said PDRA Race Director Bob Harris. “We truly appreciate their generosity and we can’t thank them enough for their participation this season.”

Kooks Headers and Exhaust offers production applications for many late model domestic automobiles. This means that you can get that “custom” header for your early or late model application for a fraction of the cost and have it shipped right out to your door step. There is no other header company in the country that can offer a header for your gas engine truck, while still building handmade custom race headers that are used in applications making over 3,000 horsepower. Kooks prides itself in being pioneers in the stainless steel header revolution and have become the innovators in the exhaust industry as a whole. Kooks designs, tests, and manufacturers it first; then other companies follow.

Kooks is your one-stop for every header or exhaust component need. They offer mandrel bent tubing services, welding, forming, notching, burning custom flanges, producing specialty collectors and even have their own line of racing mufflers and tips.
